Jodie was a premie at birth and I had oxygen cut off from my brain due to my umbilical cord being wrapped around my neck at birth. We both have had cerebral palsy since birth.
We met at a school in Portland, Oregon. Holladay Center was a school for the disabled. I was three and Jodie was four when we met. We did not hang out together back then. Jodie liked having crutch fights with Keith and I liked reading and making Kathy laugh.
We were mainstreamed and went our separate ways in about 1973. Sixteen years later we met up again at a support group Jodie was leading at New Hope Community Church.
We both had pursued love with non-disabled people. There is nothing wrong with that, it just did not work for either of us. Jodie and I have abilities that compliment each other. I am a writer and she is a speaker. She has strengths that are my weaknesses and vice versa. We worked well together.
Also, she was and still iis hot hot hot!
